Morocco Shines in Bloomberg’s Top 24 Travel Destinations for 2024
Morocco’s tourism allure continues to garner global recognition, with Bloomberg featuring the North African gem among its top 24 travel destinations for 2024. Despite a destructive earthquake in September 2023, Morocco experienced a record year, welcoming approximately 14 million travelers—1 million more than in 2019, according to Bloomberg.
The news outlet credits this success to the efforts of Morocco’s tourism authorities, who have actively encouraged travelers to explore beyond the well-known city of Marrakech. Bloomberg highlights the charm of northern Morocco, spotlighting stylish boutique hotels away from the coastal megaresorts, such as Yves Saint Laurent’s former hideaway, Villa Mabrouka, now transformed into a 12-room hotel.
Rabat, along with Marrakech, is recommended as a must-visit destination, with the magazine suggesting notable accommodations like the Noby Hotel, owned by Hollywood star Robert De Niro.
This acknowledgment from Bloomberg is part of a series of accolades for Morocco in 2024. Lonely Planet and Airbnb also recognized the country as a top travel destination, emphasizing the unique experiences of exploring the Sahara Desert, Marrakech souks, and the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen.
CNN also lauded Morocco’s rebound in the travel industry, praising its diverse landscapes and spectacular architecture. The positive momentum is reflected in Morocco’s tourism revenues, reaching $9.8 billion by the end of November 2023, a 15.8% increase compared to the previous year. The country attracted 13.2 million tourists as of November, solidifying its status as a global travel hotspot.
